RE: House Battery Drain 1993 Coachmen Santara

Thanks. I just found the itty bitty reset switch and now I am registering 12.75 volts. I never would have seen it if you did not mention it.
Getting closer........... I found the converter and I will check the output. I assume that it should be around 13 volts?
SHould I be happy getting 12.75 volts?

Thanks Jorn...I did what you recommended and nothing would go on after I took off the negative wire. Now I need to find where the converter is.

RE: House Battery Drain 1993 Coachmen Santara

I loaded the pic I mentioned in the post above in my profile as my picture of my rig. The box is labeled "A". Anyone know what it is? Thanks!

RE: House Battery Drain 1993 Coachmen Santara

Thanks to Jorn and Dakzuki
Here is more info : My charged house battery is at 12.6 volts. When I turn on the engine it is charging it at 13.7 volts. When I connect the shoreline the battery remains at 12.6 volts. I haven't let it sit long enough (I charged it overnight)to see where it may be draining. I checked the fuses (all good) and turned off two overhead lights that do not work (could they drain the battery anyway? I doubt it but...?).
Also, in the battery compartment under the step is a little black "box" on the left side which is around 1.5 inches by 1 inch with two posts and a positive cable that connects to one post, passes through the "box" and then continues on from the other post to the battery. I tried to take off the nut and the entire post turned instead.
COuld that wire be the charging wire from the shore line to the battery? I have a picture clearly labeled which shows the box but I don't see where I could download it here. Can anyone help? I can send the pic to whomever can help. Thanks.

RE: House Battery Drain 1993 Coachmen Santara

Okay...stupid question...but when I have the shore line connected, should the switch be on "store" to recharge the battery or "on". I am pretty sure I have had it on the "store" position and the battery still drained.
Is there another switch I can look for that may be faulty?

RE: House Battery Drain 1993 Coachmen Santara

Thanks to both of you for somes ideas. Does anyone know if there is a house battery disconnect on a Coachmen? Maybe I have it disconnected. I just finished trickle-charging the battery overnight and removed the fuses to see if the charge holds up for over a week. Again, I bought a new battery and it discharged in less then two weeks.

House Battery Drain 1993 Coachmen Santara

Should your house battery bank be charging when you are plugged in at home or should it charge when you turn on the engine?
I replaced the battery two weeks ago and went camping. Everything worked fine. When we came back I plugged the unit into the household current. I looked at the test panel yesterday and it indicated the battery was low although I still could turn on lights and the t.v..
Just trying to make sure that I am doing everything correctly. Not sure if I have an open circuit because of the "low" battery status or am overlooking something simple.
We just bought the rv a couple of months ago and have taken it out only twice.

RE: House Battery Drain (2004 Jayco Greyhawk 31ss)

I have a similar issue and you reply helped me on one level. The next question is: should your house battery bank also charge when you are plugged in at home (ac)?
I just bought a new battery and noticed the battery level was on low and I have had it plugged in for a week.

RE: overnights in truckstops

I am reading the answers here and it seems there are a lot of people afraid of truck stops. Stupid questions but what are the rules for carrying firearms?

RE: Class C 1992 Coachman Santara (Worth Buying?)

The title says 1992 but the plate on the "RV" says 1993. I have read a couple of posts regarding what year the title should be.....strange.

Class C 1992 Coachman Santara (Worth Buying?)

I am looking at a 1992 Coachman Santara on a Ford 350 chassis. It has 40,000 miles on it,no mold smell, roof looks good but areas on the sidewhat I assume is delamination. The owner says that it is not leaking, been there for many years and the the dealer says that it is common for the the sides to sometimes "un-glue" from the rest of the wall. I know the seller and so I know he is not trying to mislead me but can a fiberglas wall un-glue from the rest of the wall due to age? The wood is not mushy and there are not water stains on the inside. Of course the next question is do I worry about it or not? He is asking 9000.00 and it has propane, an onan generator, and everything is in good shape .

One Tank Trips From N.E. Ohio

Looking for your recommendations in the N.E. Ohio area to camp at with our "new" rv. We just purchased a 93 Coachmen Santara with 40,000 miles on it and want to take it out and don't want to look too stupid backing into the campsite or cleaning the tanks.
It's just my wife and I so we aren't looking for "family activity" stuff, just somewhere with a view.

RE: Mice in air cleaner V-10

Never had them in my Rv but found one in my air filter on one Toyota. The one that surprised me was the filter I never paid attention to (and did not even know I had). Behind my glove box in my Toyota Corolla (2004) there is a "cabin air filter" . Someone told me about the filter and I went home and pulled it out. I found a dead "family" of mice on the filter. As I though about it I remembered a period of time when I entered the car and it just did not smell right but could not find anything.. I now had the answer.

RE: Questions about the rubber roofs?

Hi,
My first post so bear with me please. Several replies mention caulking around certain areas of the roof. What is the best type of caulking for rubber rooftop purposes? Also, how about caulking around the sides? Rubber based, silicone...etc?
Thanks
